Neon Party assists GHD Civil Engineering in creating a ripple effect with “Water You Thinking” and "Spill It" at the Australian Water Association’s event “Ozwater'25!”

GHD had an exciting conference ahead of them as they were presenting an exhibit in Adelaide, at the Australian Water Association's Ozwater'25!
The Australian Water Association is Australia's biggest water network whose goals are to inspire and drive a sustainable water future as they share, connect and inspire.
The Australian Water Association provides individuals with career enrichment and organisations with business opportunities as they share information and knowledge, connect members with industry and stakeholders, and inspire positive change.
Ozwater'25 is one such event that is an annual opportunity to review practices and discover what Australia and globally the world could be doing better with the water around us.
With fun engaging tag lines such as "Make sure to "call into" our phone booths, "Spilling our thoughts in the Ozwater'25", "Float an idea, and we'll catch it!" and "Water you waiting for?" GHD's LED neon signs needed to be as engaging as they were thoughtful.
The Challenge
GHD's exhibit was located by the main entrance and needed to be impactful in order to deeply engage the viewership and facilitate a positive first impressions of the expo to attendees, fellow exhibitors and staff running the event, including any curious individuals passing by the entrance of the expo.
GHD's exhibit itself consisted of two comfy and aesthetically pleasing phone booths surrounded externally by potted plants. Internally they were to have one LED neon sign each displayed inside, over a countertop table with two booth seats and a corded vintage telephone.
GHD's intentions for their exhibit were to allow attendees to step into one of the two themed meeting pods on site to spill their thoughts! Inside of each meeting pod, turned into a comfy vintage aesthetically pleasing phone booth, a modern take on the traditional phone booths which are rarely found on the streets of Australia in 2025 as their original purpose. Attendees will find a vintage phone audiobook and thought-provoking prompts inspired by the conference theme: "Looking back, moving forward". Another fun tag line encouraged attendees right before entering the booth - "Got something bubbling over? Pop in and let your voice be heard!"
The Solution
To help GHD's bring their vision to life, we created a set of LED neon signs that would align with GHD's design while delivering on fun and novelty as per the intentions for their exhibit at the Oz Water 25 conference.
The Results
The final result were two LED text-based signs in Electric and Ice Blue respectively,"Water you Thinking" and "Spill It!" The theme was water and using the Electric Blue and Ice Blue with coloured tubing were both on theme and had a cooling effect. The LED neon signs fit well into the booth reflecting on the Sparkly disco background made the LED neon signs glow effervescently mimicking light reflecting on water, creating the novelty effect and adding to the exhibit.

The Customisations
What made this sign unique was the visual impact of the typography and graphic design on a reflective disco background,which added a holographic and refractive element that emboldened the imagery of light on water further. Here are the features that helped it stand out:
Graphic Design: The two LED neon signs are horizontal and centred in formation in a hand-written style font - indicating the fun and novel aspect of the fun conversations attendees could be having about water, highlighted by the disco background.
Clever use of Colour: The use of Electric Blue and Ice Blue for the two LED neon signs reflected the theme of water and has a cooling and invigorating effect on the eye and incorporates fun and vibrancy.
Cut-Around Acrylic Backing: The cut around acrylic panel, shapes the LED neon signage and stabilises the reflections of the disco with the LED neon sign makes them visually pleasing and harmonious and gives a spark of joie de vivre to attendees visiting GHD's exhibit.
